LAGOS STATE MINISTRY OF WOMEN AFFAIRS, CELEBRITIES ENDORSE WALK AGAINST RAPE CAMPAIGN

 The fifth edition of the much awaited Walk Against Rape has once more gotten a  nod from the Lagos State Ministry Of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Various celebrities such as  Kate Henshaw-Nuttal, Jimmy Jatt, Ali Baba, Owen Gee,
Gt the Guiterman, Gbemi Olateru Olabegi (OAP)Isio Wanogho (Model), Bolaji Rosiji, Ego Obaro, Praise Fowowe,Jerrilyn Mulbah, Jodie,Bhaira (AMBO 3), Toni Payne,  amongst other top celebrities have been part of the Walk

Walk Against Rape Campaign is a special demonstration that brings together Mothers, Fathers, Guardians, Teachers, Youth Advocates, Social Activist , Actors, Actresses, Sports Men, Media Practitioners, Musicians, DJs, Comedians, Youth Organizations, Showbiz Personalities and student delegates from various higher institutions and Secondary Schools around Lagos state to  lend a voice to sexually abused persons (particularly women and children), and also  show their support to the course of bringing an end to RAPE in Nigeria where the number of Rape cases is on the increase.


According to the Project Coordinator, Esther Ijewere- Kalejaiye, “Our aim is to help in encouraging victims to speak out and reduce the stigmatization attached to the victims of sexual abuse and Rape as well as use “Walk Against Rape” as a platform to inform the society about the soaring scourge of sexual abuse especially as it relates to young girls and women in general.  


we intend achieving a lot more with the campaign this year as we would be having a  three months sensitizing workshop College Acquaintance Rape Education C.A.R.E in partnership with the Lagos State Government and the Domestic and sexual violence response team (DSVRT)  for young people of secondary and Primary  school age to educate and sensitize them on Rape and encourage them to speak up. The workshop  kicked off on the 18th of February 2015  with Desmond Elliot,   the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in  Lagos State ;  Mr Ade Ipaye  and a host of other stakeholders in attendance

Aside the celebrities that are attending the walk, invitations have also be sent to Non-Government Organizations, Representatives from different Local Governments In Lagos State, Media Practitioners, Entertainment Stars (Musicians, Producers, Actors, Actresses, TV / Radio Presenters, Students Delegates (From Higher Institutons), secondary school students, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) arms of various Corporate Bodies, and The General Public.

Walk against Rape is organized by Rubies Ink Initiative since 2010

Alleged N4.8bn Fraud: Court Adjourns Cletus Ibeto’s Case till Apr 15

  Justice Oyindamola Ogala of the Lagos State High Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos, on Monday, March 11, 2024 adjourned the alleged N4.8 billion fraud brought against a businessman, Chief Cletus Ibeto, till April 15, 2024. The case, which was initially before Justice I.O. Ijelu, of the Lagos State High Court, Ikeja, suffered several adjournments due to the absence of the defendant to take his plea with respect to the 10-count charges filed against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC. He was charged alongside his companies, Ibeto Energy Development Company and Odoh Holdings Ltd. Justice Ijelu had on November 3, 2023 declared Ibeto wanted, based on an application moved by counsel to the EFCC, Rotimi Jacobs, SAN. He also issued a bench warrant for his arrest. However, when the case came up on January 29, 2024, the court informed all parties involved that the case file had been returned to the Chief Judge of the State High Court. Alleged N201m Fraud: Court Opens Trial of Four Abuja Company Executives, Company May 6

Justice K.N. Ogbonnaya of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, High Court Zuba has fixed commencement of hearing of a N201,000,000( Two Hundred and One Million) alleged fraud involving four Abuja company executives and their company for May 6, 2024. The defendants, Harry Ositadinma Samuel, Ayodele Raymond, Gowon Usman Egbunu, Alhaji Nuhu Amanabo and Beligetto Holding Company Limited were arraigned on February 29, 2024 on two-count charges bordering on obtaining by false pretense.
