President Muhammadu Buhari says his administration has implemented high-impact projects across the country to meet the yearnings and aspirations of Nigerians. He said this on Monday, October 17, at his last ministerial performance review retreat organised to evaluate the progress made in the implementation of his administration’s nine-priority agenda. Speaking at the event, the president highlighted the progress his administration has made in the areas of infrastructure, agriculture, economy, and health. “In recognition of the importance of critical infrastructure in economic development and the quest of this administration to leave a lasting legacy, we have implemented high-impact projects across the length and breadth of the country that meet the yearnings and aspirations of Nigerians. ASUU suspends its 8-months-old strike

The Academic Staff Union of University (ASUU) has suspended its eight-month-old industrial action conditionally, a member of the union’s National Executive Committee told Channels TV early Friday. The union decided to suspend the strike during a meeting of its leadership that started on Thursday night and lasted into the early hours of Friday. The meeting was called by the union to determine its next line of action after its state branches met over the Court of Appeal ruling last week.The Court of Appeal had ordered ASUU to suspend the strike before its appeal of the ruling ordering lecturers to resume work can be heard. Members of the union’s National Executive Committee, which comprises the chairmen of the state chapters and members of the national executive, attended the meeting at the ASUU National Secretariat in Abuja. ASUU has been on strike since February 14 this year.

Reality TV star Rico Swavey passes on

Reality TV star and ex-BBN housemate, Patrick Fakoya alias Rico Swavey, is dead. His colleague, Tobi Bakre announced his demise moments ago on Instagram.  Taking to his Instagram page, Tobi Bakre shared a photo of him and the deceased as he revealed that he would use the picture to remember him. “This is how I will remember us brother. Forever”. This is coming hours after Bakre had cried out to the public to help save his co-star’s life.Pleading on behalf of Rico Swavey, who was on life support, he begged for Nigerians to donate money to help safe his life. According to Tobi, they had to keep him on life support and continue to pay the rising medical bills while waiting for a miracle. Earlier, on Wednesday, Rico Swavey’s team had shared a video of the acc#dent scene urging Nigerians to pray for him. Until his demise, Rico was a lawyer, singer,  and an actor.  

Harrysong arrested in Lagos over alleged threat to life, defamation suit

Popular Nigerian artiste Harrysong has reportedly been arrested by the Nigeria Police Force. SP Benjamin Jundeyin, the spokesman for the Lagos police command, confirmed this on Tuesday. According to Hundeyin, Harrysong was picked up Tuesday morning over a petition against him. "I cannot tell you much now but I can confirm to you that he was arrested this morning and it is in continuation with our investigation that emanated from a petition against him," he said. Many believe that the singer was arrested following a recent interview with the hosts of Frankly Speaking podcasts, where he accused music executive, Soso Soberekon of sending assassins to kill at his home in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
