Union Bank partners JAN to impact over 300 girls

As part of Junior Achievement Nigeria’s vision of inspiring and preparing the youth to succeed in a global economy and in alignment with Union Bank’s corporate sustainability impact strategy, the Bank in partnership with Junior Achievement Nigeria is set to implement the annual Leadership, Empowerment, Achievement and Development (LEAD) Camp for girls.  The LEAD Camp which kicks off July 25th, 2022 is a week-long programme designed to empower young girls to be high-achieving leaders in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal – Gender Equality. Police Reportedly Arrest Influencer, Amanda Chisom As Chinmark’s Accomplice

According to sources, Amanda would be under custody until Marksman Chinedu Ijiomah of Chinmark is produced. In March, Amanda Chisom, the brand ambassador of Chinmark group reacted to the threats she received after Chinmark group collapsed. There have been speculations that the Chinmark investment platform has crashed. The rumour was confirmed by one of the company’s employees. Since her post went viral, many people who lost their funds to Chinmark have been sending threats to Amanda Chisom who promoted the platform. They accused her of luring thousands of investors into the scheme. One of the victims named Achara Ugo recounted how her dad lost his life upon hearing the sad news. According to her, her late dad invested his gratuity in Chinmark which Amanda promoted and he died of High blood pressure upon hearing the sad news. AGAIN! Some Part Of Nigeria May Experience Power Outage As National Grid Collapses

The National Grid has collapsed for the sixth time in nearly seven months this year. A distribution company, the Eko Electricity Distribution Company, said the recent collapse occurred at 11:27 am on Wednesday. It has not been unable to receive bulk electricity from the national supply line. “Dear Customers, we regret to inform you of a system collapse on the National grid at precisely 11:27 am today, Wednesday, July 20. We are in talks with the Transmission Company of Nigeria to ascertain the cause of the collapse and a possible restoration timeline. We will keep you updated on the situation,” the Disco said. The country has s#ffered multiple electricity disruptions due to the collapse of the national grid. NNPC increases pump price of petrol to N179 per litre

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited has approved an upward review in the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) from N165 per litre to N179 per litre, effective Tuesday, July 19. NNPC in a notice to fuel marketers directed them to change the petrol price on pumps to the new price effective today. This was even as the company equally increased the ex-depot price from N148.17 to N167 per litre. This came after weeks of petrol scarcity resurfaced across the country as fuel retailers were adopting different price bands to force unofficial deregulation attempts. Already, majority of filling stations in Lagos have adopted different price models. While some filling stations have changed the price on their meters to reflect the current price they are selling at, others have left theirs to show the approved retail price of N165 per litre but were selling above the displayed price, Guardian News reports.

Moment Tinubu paid condolence visit to Kemi Nelson's family in Lagos

The APC Presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu on Monday paid a condolence visit to the family of late former party’s women’s leader, Kemi Nelson in Lagos. Nelson died on Sunday after a prolong battle with a terminal ailment that had kept her out of public glare for a long time. Tinubu was accompanied in his visit by his wife, Oluremi, the Lagos APC Chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, and Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s Chief of Staff, Mr Tayo Ayinde and other dignitaries. Tinubu described the late Nelson as a highly respected and industrious woman whose contributions toward the party and Lagos state would be sorely missed.

IGP bans use of Spy number plates Nationwide

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, has ordered a total ban on all use of Police SPY Vehicle Number Plates by vehicle owners across the states of the federation without exceptions. This is irrespective of whether it is authorized, or not, as all authorizations are hereby revoked indefinitely. A statement released by CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, spokesperson of the Nigeria Police force, states that the order is necessary to forestall the continuous disregard for traffic rules and regulations and other extant laws guiding road use by individuals hiding under the privileges of SPY police number plates. The statement read: ''The IGP has therefore directed that police officers and officers of other security agencies attached to VIPs who use the SPY number plates should ensure prompt compliance with this directive or risk being arrested for violation of the order. Chaos is currently around Nwagene, Onitsha, as the Anambra State Government ordered the demolition of The Mountain of Holy Ghost Intervention and Deliverance Ministry, a church owned by Prophet Odumeje. It was gathered that the demolition exercise started on Thursday morning. In a clip, Prophet Odumeje, was seen pleading for help as security personnel landed slaps on his face to prevent him from accessing his church building. Acting Accountant-General removed over alleged corruption

The Federal Government has replaced Mr. Chukwuyere N. Anamekwe as the acting Accountant-General of the Federation (AGF), TheCable is reporting. He was replaced two weeks ago with AGF Mr. Okolieaboh Ezeoke Sylvis, a former TSA (Treasury Single Account) Director. The Nation learnt that Anamekwe’s replacement followed allegations that he was being investigated by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). It was also gathered that the government was not comfortable with his revelation that it was borrowing to pay salaries. Anamekwe was appointed acting AGF on the May 22. He made the controversial remark on government borrowing to pay salaries on June 14. He was replaced seven days after.
